MasterCard refuses to serve "pirates"

Yes, it seems that the so-called “right holders” are not going to give up, moreover, there is an increasing pressure on both individual users and entire payment systems. Earlier, we heard that the MasterCard payment system refused to service Wikileaks, as did Visa and PayPal. Now MasterCard has announced that it has stopped servicing financial transactions from sites with pirated content, including music, games, videos, and so on. In general, MasterCard will now not work with any of the sites where content is sold that violates the rights of the copyright holder.

It is clear that after such a statement began a stormy discussion on MasterCard on the web and offline media. The main question asked by MasterCard is “Why?”. After all, for MasterCard itself, the implementation of such transactions is a very profitable occupation, which brings a significant percentage of profit. The answer is given by lawyers - the organization probably did so under pressure from those right holders, with the support of senators and congressmen. Back in September, an act aimed at combating pirates was adopted in the United States, only this document proposes to use not direct, but indirect methods of fighting.

The copywriters have already realized that it’s not easy to smoke the pirates from the Web, new websites will be created, pirates will change the domain zones, finding new ways to avoid punishment and make a profit. But if you close the funding (for example, as suggested earlier, to prohibit advertisers to work with pirated resources, or just like that, take and chop off the possibility of conducting transactions), the pirates will die out by themselves. This is what the copyright holders are hoping for.

Interestingly, earlier payment systems as they could, shied away from cooperation with the owners. Now they are either forced to do this, or the management of the payment system has changed the point of view. So, the representatives of the RIAA (I think there is no need to explain who they are), even praised MasterCard for their zeal - they say they themselves turned to the RIAA with a proposal to establish cooperation. Somehow it is hard to believe in it ...

It is interesting now to find out who and how in MasterCard will determine which of the sites is pirated and which one is not?
