PHP 5.2.16 released and end of support for 5.2.x

The development team announced an extraordinary update for php 5.2 - php 5.2.16. This update fixes errors # 53517 (segfault in pgsql_stmt_execute () when the postgres server is stopped) and # 53516 (error processing the open_basedir directive) . The update is highly recommended to anyone using open_basedir

It should be noted that over the past couple of days, this is not the first PHP release, dedicated to errors and security, which the development team “shot” (but agree that the fact of having an unplanned update is better than the hypothetical absence of those in the case of compromise)
')
For webmasters, the main thing is that with this update, support for the 5.2.x branch stops. The transition to the new version 5.3.4 for some users will end up with various issues about the obsolescence of functions and, as a result, the inoperability of some elements or the entire site - be careful and test your sites in advance before upgrading, for example, on virtual machines
