Data encryption in ORACLE DB according to GOST
So it was that everyone waited so long - Aladdin RD announced the completion of the certification process of Crypto DB, a means of cryptographic information protection (CIPP), designed to protect data in the Oracle DBMS from unauthorized access.
The decision received a certificate from the Federal Security Service of Russia in protection classes KS1 and KS2. Data encryption in the ORACLE database in accordance with GOST “Crypto DB” became the first solution certified to protect the DBMS Oracle according to the requirements of the Federal Security Service of Russia
State-owned enterprises in the Russian Federation can use this solution to protect personal data and confidential information in Oracle DBMS.
This means that “Crypto DB” can be used in state authorities, financial companies, banks and commercial organizations, which are faced with the task of ensuring the protection of confidential information and personal data in Oracle databases.
Using "Crypto DB" enhances the security of the Oracle DBMS, provided by the built-in security features, and allows customers to get the following benefits:
• additional user authentication to access protected data using eToken electronic keys;
• audit and monitoring of access to encrypted data;
• flexible management of electronic encryption keys, eliminating possible unauthorized actions of database administrators;
• ease of implementation by working at the application level, without the need to make changes to the program code;
• support for Russian cryptographic algorithms GOST 28147-89.
“Crypto DB” is a software and hardware complex for ensuring confidentiality and integrity of information in Oracle DBMS, using electronic keys and smart cards eToken for storing key information. With the help of “Crypto DB”, you can selectively encrypt an arbitrary number of table columns in Oracle DBMS, which significantly reduces the load on hardware resources compared to encrypting the entire array of database information. Carrying out the functions of "add-ons" over the regular functions of the DBMS, the cryptographic information system "Crypto DB" allows you to analyze and record all operations with protected data, regardless of the level of user privileges.
A crypto database consists of the following components: the database server, eToken SecurLogon client software, the key and password management console, and the audit collector workstation, which is offered as an option. The solution is compatible with Oracle Database in editions of Standard / Enterprise Edition versions 9i / 10g / 11g, on client machines running Windows XP / Vista (32/64 bit).
