IBM DeepQA / Watson will play against two champions of the intellectual quiz show
Jeopardy! (in Russia, a quiz is made under a license called “Own game”). The broadcast of the battle of minds will take place
on February 14, 15 and 16, 2011 on the CBS channel. Two games will be played.
The quiz will be held according to standard rules. Three participants compete among themselves in the struggle for the right to be the first to answer the question asked. Questions are formulated, as a rule, in the form of statements where the search word is replaced by a pronoun. Players must guess what is being said and give an answer.
Jeopardy! - The most popular quiz in America, so the victory of artificial intelligence here will make even more impression on the audience than the IBM Deep Blue victory over Garry Kasparov in 1997. In any case, such a collision of protein and silicon intelligence in front of a multimillion audience has not happened for many years.

In Russia,
Anatoly Wasserman is considered the best scholar in His Game, having scored fifteen consecutive victories in 2001–2002, six consecutive victories in 2008–2009 and was recognized as the best player of the decade in 2004.
There are two recognized champions in the US -
Ken Jennings (won 74 games in a row in the 2004-2005 season, total winnings over $ 2.5 million) and
Brad Rutter (won $ 3.2 million over the course of performances). The cash prize for the first place in a computer and two champions competition is one million dollars. Of this money, if a person wins, 50% will be donated to charity (if the computer wins, 100%).
The Watson machine is named after IBM founder Thomas Watson. In the future, it will become part of an artificial intelligence system capable of understanding human language and answering any questions, drawing on information from the Internet. The ability to filter and analyze facts in the future can be used in medicine (for making complex diagnoses empirically after analyzing the symptoms), automated support services (for answering questions), tourist guides, etc.
To prepare for the quiz, Watson has already spent 50 training sparring matches. The best moments of them will soon be posted on
www.ibmwatson.com . You can try your hand against Watson in
an interactive web application .
Watson
is an IBM POWER7 server with a number of proprietary speech processing and data analysis programs created over four years by a
team of developers specifically for this task.
