Wikimapia has moved to a non-free Creative Commons license.

Recently , a blog of Wikimapia has announced the achievement of a million registered users and at the same time a switch to the Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported license . This is a non-free license, i.e. it does not correspond to the Definition of free works of culture . In general, there is nothing surprising in this news - and Wikimapia used to be distributed under the same non-commercial conditions, the Creative Commons license is now being used - a more modern mechanism for determining the conditions for disseminating information. Now, if Wikimapia had refused to ban commercial use, it would be a sensation, but for some reason they are afraid of it. As long as this happens, all advanced people will most likely only participate in the OpenStreetMap project .
