Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) on the tablet and Google Maps 5.0

Last night, at a conference in San Francisco “D: Dive into Mobile”, Andy Rubin, responsible for Android at Google, demonstrated a prototype of a Motorola tablet manufactured with Android 3.0 on board, as well as a new version of an application for mobile devices - Google Maps 5.0.

The tablet has the ability to video chat, the processor from NVIDIA, "dual core 3D processor", but the physical characteristics are not specified. As the journalists noted, the new version is very different from what is currently on the market - 3.0, although it has a familiar grid of icons on its screen, but applications look more desktop and the traditional Android buttons are missing. This kit is expected to enter the market in 2011.

As for Google Maps 5.0, the main innovations are the vector rendering of maps and the ability to cache to work in off-line . It is expected that it will be possible to make a route in advance and cache it, but to re-route the route you will still need an Internet connection. also expanded multi-touch gestures: zoom and the ability to rotate the map.

Most modern Android phones starting with Droid should be supported by most, if not all, features of the new version, but it all depends on the specific handset (3D render and multitouch). Interestingly, the Nexus One supports vector mapping of maps, but it will not be possible to rotate them due to multitouch restrictions. Below is a list of devices that are 100% compatible with 5.0 chips. The update should appear within a few days.

* Galaxy S
* Droid
* Droid X
* Droid 2
* Droid Incredible
* Evo
* Nexus S
* G2
