The University of Michigan Library has transferred 700k bibliographic records to the public domain using a CC0 In addition to
changing its licensing policy from
CC BY-NC to
CC BY, the University of Michigan allowed the distribution and reuse of more than half a million bibliographic records, transferring them to the public domain, using the Public Domain transfer CC0. Following the British Library, which
only recently released three million bibliographic records in the public domain, the University of Michigan library offered its
Open Access bibliographic records for
download , which as of November 17, 2010 contained 684,597 records.
The University of Michigan Library has always been particularly advanced in terms of open source licensing, public domain and copyright issues in the digital age.
