Lufthansa offers its customers access to the Internet on flights

A few days ago, Lufthansa Corporation, together with its partners, the Panasonic Avionics Corporation and Deutsche Telekom Lufthansa, announced a new service - providing broadband Internet access on so-called long-haul flights. Previously, the company has already introduced a similar service, but only for several routes of the North Atlantic direction. Until the end of 2011, the company promises to provide broadband for all Lufthansa flights.

“Access to the global network on board our company's aircraft during long-haul flights is a new service for our passengers. FlyNet complements the communication services already offered by our company, which can be used by Lufthansa passengers at all points of the flight route, ”said Thierry Antinori, member of the Board of Directors of Lufthansa.

The service provides unlimited access to the Network for all owners of computers and smartphones who have taken a ticket for almost any Lufthansa flight. It should be noted that in the spring of 2011, data can be transferred via mobile devices with GSM / GPRS support. In addition to connecting to the Network, the company's customers will be able to send regular SMS messages.

At the beginning of the service, customers will be able to connect their devices via a wireless communication module, then, as mentioned above, it will be possible to work with the usual functions of cell phones. Initially, the service will be free, but after February 2011, the company plans to charge for using the Internet connection. The tariff plan will include hourly billing in the amount of 10.95 euros per hour. Daily access to the network will cost 19.95 euros.

It is worth recalling that this airline was the first in the world to provide its customers with the opportunity to connect to the Network (it was only one flight in 2003). Then several more flights were connected to the service, and now the company plans to activate the service for all flights.

In general, if someone urgently needs the Internet during long-haul flights - now there is an option, and not the worst. In principle, the prices are also quite reasonable - who can pay for a long-haul flight will be able to find 20 euros for the payment of communication services.
