Microsoft renamed its IPTV platform to Mediaroom

Microsoft on Sunday announced a change in the brand of its Internet TV platform.

Microsoft Mediaroom, formerly known as Microsoft Internet Protocol Television (IPTV), allows you to connect TVs to home computers, allowing users to watch digital TV over the Internet, as well as access to hard drives to listen to music, or view photos on large screens.

The software giant also claims that Mediaroom allows you to run some applications that require access to the Internet without a browser, so users can watch streaming online video, or view photos uploaded to the Web.

Microsoft also introduced tools for developers Multimedia Application Environment, allowing them to create various applications for the Mediaroom platform.
