In Yahoo, reductions began again

It looks like Yahoo! Difficult times began again - the executive director of the corporation, Carol Bartz, is going to reduce from 10 to 20 percent of its employees. All this, according to the management, is carried out in accordance with the implementation of the new company strategy. The corporation is going to cut mainly employees from departments such as the Yahoo Group and Flickr.

The dismissal of employees is carried out in the framework of optimization of the financial policy of the company. In general, the corporation seems to be trying to save money by reducing the cost of wages to its employees. In principle, the position is clear, it is only interesting whether the remaining employees can maintain work at the same level or not. Anyway, and staff reduction is an agreed step that will be implemented in the near future. 10-20% means an average of a thousand people.

According to some corporate executives, such a large-scale reduction should lead to the fact that work on several areas of activity will be suspended indefinitely. At the same time, all this is done so that the corporation can develop further, not stopping at what has been achieved, and the reduction is the only way to find the additional funds that are necessary for the implementation of development policies.

This is not the first large-scale dismissal of employees of the corporation, and many experts criticize such steps by the leadership. Especially strange is the intention of Yahoo! developing by saving payroll costs is compared with the increase in assets and the number of employees of other IT companies, including Google, Facebook and others. Now, according to experts, the best time for IT companies, and constant staff reductions at Yahoo! may be evidence of unsuccessful leadership. The latter is confirmed by the fact that for two years of work of Carol Bartz, the corporation Yahoo! I could not develop and implement any more or less large project. In the meantime, now at Yahoo! seven thousand (!) people work less than two years ago.
