I remember that we began our lingual excavations with a
story about our Beaver . Today it is time to go deeper into 1991! And that's what we'll find there, friends. This is nothing more than ABBYY Lingvo 3.0 — the earliest version of Lingvo we could find. It is nice even to hold these diskettes in your hands. But will they be able to read them? Five-inch drives on the road today are not lying.
I had to sweat a lot before such a beast appeared on my desk:

')
After the correct connection, the green light caught fire and the disk drive issued such a native “bzzzz!” :) But, alas, none of the diskettes could be read. However, no wonder - floppy disks are 20 years old.
But we have a user manual supplied with the program. According to it, you can make at least some idea of Lingvo 3.0.

Some kind of screenshot, by which one can judge how the program window looked:

Lingvo 3.0 already had the ability to edit articles and create dictionaries. Moreover, there was even a word translation on the screen at the click of a mouse.

Well, "Required software and hardware" - just a song, no comment:

In the next series, "Lingvo Stories" will be even more interesting.
See you!
