250 MW solar power station to be built in California

The authors of the project, the companies NRG Solar and SunPower, call their future creation a “solar installation” and not a power station. In any case, the power of this installation-station is 250 megawatts, this is a very significant figure for such systems. The project is the largest in the USA, it is really the largest solar power station in this country. USD 450 million was allocated for the creation of the power plant, 4 years were allotted for the project implementation.

The project is named California Valley Solar Ranch, the main supplier of solar cells is the company SunPower. Placed panels will be in a place with maximum insolation, and such a place has already been found. Partners have already agreed on who will do what: SunPower will build the station and manage it, and NRG Solar, since it is the main investor, will own all the assets.

The performance of this structure, according to project managers, will be 550 megawatt-hours per year. Such performance, so to speak, is enough to provide energy to 50,000 medium-sized households in the United States. Currently, California is the most attractive place for the creators of solar power plants. In addition, in this state, there are some benefits for "producers" of electricity from solar energy.

The California Valley Solar Ranch project has already received government support, including a promise to provide investment in case of such need. The project was supported because the manufacturer of efficient high-efficiency solar panels is participating in it, SunPower, which was able to prove the advantage of its panels over any others.

Whatever it was, and the implementation of such a large project cannot but arouse respect - in any of the CIS countries such a power plant will obviously not appear quite soon. It would certainly be good if such stations appeared, but this is unlikely to happen in the next few years. It is a pity of course, but most likely this is the case.
