The network reported that Microsoft is developing its own television system, which will compete with products such as Apple TV and Google TV. The system will be based on a new subscription service, and the content will be broadcast through the popular Xbox 360 game console.

According to anonymous sources familiar with the company's plans, Microsoft is currently in the initial stages of negotiations with some content providers. It is expected that the monthly fee will be charged for watching these TV programs and films, and you can watch them using the Xbox 360 console.

In addition, another option is expected to emerge, in which Microsoft will offer existing cable networks to broadcast their content on the Xbox, in the same way as some channels broadcast their content on the Internet. The software giant will also offer the possibility of a separate subscription to specific channels.

Obviously, Microsoft has a clear desire to compete with Apple and Google, which this fall presented their new television products. Nevertheless, according to informed sources, this idea came to Microsoft management not now, but nursed in the past 12 years.

Recall that in September of this year, Apple introduced the updated Apple TV system, focused on broadcasting content from cloud servers and costing only $ 99. The device has limited disk space and allows you to broadcast Fox and ABC TV shows in high resolution for only 99 cents.

However, Apple has more ambitious plans for this product, as evidenced by the proposal that it made to the leading television networks: to allow users to view the program indefinitely, having subscribed for $ 30 a month. However, the television company, reportedly, abandoned this venture, and Apple decided to promote the idea of renting television programs for 99 cents. However, this plan was also rejected by some of the largest television networks, including CBS and NBC.

Google also ran into a number of problems while trying to launch new Google TV products running on the Android operating system. Although some devices with Google TV initially had access to broadcast Internet content, many of the providers made efforts to block broadcasting of their content on Google TV devices.
