There is a lot of talk about “Thin Client” technology but few have seen it, especially in public schools.
On Saturday and Sunday, representatives of the Nizhny Novgorod Linux User Group visited one of the schools in the Nizhny Novgorod region, where, at the request of the computer science teacher, a thin client system based on Ubuntu 10.04 was deployed.
Such a solution for the class allowed the use of the park of old technology for the educational process in full. And facilitate the maintenance of the hardware (replacement of iron at workstations). Or rather, we just got rid of the hard drives and CD-ROMs in the system blocks at the workplace. In thin client mode, they are simply not needed.
