What is it? New tool from the arsenal of spammers?

Yesterday a letter with the subject “moephoto2” from xxx@mail.ru with the name “ ” came to the mail (account on mail.ru). The weight of the letter (827Kb) indicated that the letter actually had a picture (left). And. The letter was a picture in full resolution with the same name moephoto2.jpg.

The first thought was wrong and confused the address. The second thought - let me see who it is. Usually I ask this question in Google or Yandex. The latter issued a link to the "Question-Answer" section of a certain site with a question about "front struts / springs on Nissan Primera" and the name Alexey.
It is unlikely that the girl in the photo is called Alexey, and all the more so that he is an insane anime fan =) Although it doesn’t happen. On the other hand, what does this have to do with me?


And finally, it turned out that the comment to the photo reads: “CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 80”.

This strengthened my suspicions that the letter can be safely sent into oblivion. There is only one question left: why is all this necessary? There was only one assumption that in this way “live” email addresses are collected. Checking the assumption of desire did not arise.

Has anyone gotten that thread like that? What other thread about what it is?
