The competition Imagine Cup embedded systems is held again in Russia
Last year, for the first time in Russia, the Imagine Cup competition was held: embedded systems - and the result exceeded all our expectations, the Russian team took 2nd place in the world in this competition . This year, the embedded systems competition is held again in Russia - to participate, you must submit an application for participation in the competition until December 20, 2010 . 6 finalist teams will receive eBox devices to put their ideas into practice, and the winning team will represent Russia at the international final in the summer of 2011 in New York . Anyone who knows how / likes to hold a soldering iron in their hands and can program - participate in the embedded systems contest and bring Russia another victory!
Embedded Systems Competition is one of the two main competitions for competitions held in Russia. As part of the competition, you need to come up with a software and hardware system managed by the eBox-3310A-MSJK controller - a small computer with a 1 GHz processor, 512 MB memory and various peripheral inputs / outputs (USB, VGA, Ethernet, Audio, Serial, etc.) ).
The order of the competition in Russia is as follows:
Until December 20, 2010 we are collecting applications for participation in the competition. The application must contain a description of the project (5-7 pages of text in Russian or English, use the application template ) and a video that will also be viewed by the jury. The video may contain a pro-speech presentation in the form of a screencast, a demonstration of the work of the project prototype, etc. In addition to the standard criteria for evaluating projects, the ability of the team to implement a valid prototype of the device until April 2011 will be an important criterion - please pay attention to this issue when writing the application.
Until January 15, 2011 The competent jury (including representatives of universities, Microsoft employees and leading Russian specialists in embedded systems) selects from all applications 6 projects that pass to the next stage of the competition - to the Russian final. These teams will be sent eBox devices (approximate cost - more than $ 400), which should come to Russia in early February.
At the Russian finals in mid-April 2011, each team presents its project in person from the stage and demonstrates the solution created. The best team in the summer of 2011 at the expense of Microsoft will go to the international final competition in New York.
To prepare for the competition you can help the course on embedded systems in the Internet University INTUIT, which we have already written about . We especially call for participation in the competition of all those who know how to hold a soldering iron in their hands! However, this is not a mandatory requirement: you can focus on the hardware component of the device (using the controller only nominally), or implement a predominantly software solution on the controller - it all depends on your skills, skills and imagination.
