A new campaign against Flash advertising has been launched on the Internet.

Yes, unfortunately, so far we are talking only about Flash-based advertising, about advertising that sometimes just makes you angry. On the most serious, seemingly site, advertising of the most frivolous content blinking with a speed of several frames per second can suddenly appear. And if we are accustomed to not paying attention to the content of advertising, then the blinking causing a headache is difficult to ignore. In addition, sometimes Flash banners loaded with advertising networks on various web resources violate the design of the page itself. Worst of all, site owners can rarely do something, because only advertisers and ad networks can fix advertising.

In general, some users got such an advertisement so much that a special website, flashadsarebroken.com , was created, and a campaign of the same name was launched against Flash advertising on the Web. On this site are laid out the most egregious examples of advertising, which is annoying as much as possible. The initiator of this anti-advertising campaign claims that he is not against the advertising itself, just advertisers and advertising networks must at least change the “wmode” parameter in the embed code of their banners or other types of advertising to “transparent” or “opaque.”

Often the webmaster would be happy to correct the situation, but he can’t do anything with the advertisements on his website. Remove advertising - means losing money. We have to endure both webmasters and users who are forced to put up with a “bombed” advertising site if the content is interesting. For all that, such cases are not only frequent on some small resources, but also on Facebook and other similar giants of the Internet industry.

In addition, James Yu, the initiator of the campaign mentioned above, would like to convince the online community that using HTML5 when creating advertising banners is much more rational than Flash. James believes that sooner or later this will happen, and Flash-based commercials will cease to finally break the harmonious design of various sites. Among other things, Flash often “eats away” a considerable part of the user's PC resources, and if there is a lot of such advertising, then the page is almost impossible to use - everything “slows down” on the most powerful PCs. It is clear that much depends on the webmaster, but it is worth trying to find a middle ground that can be arranged by users, advertisers, and webmasters.
