When registering .RU and .RF domains, revocation of passport copies is coming?

On November 9, 2010, at the absentee meeting of the Committee of Registrars, a question was raised for voting on the cancellation of storage of copies of documents confirming the information necessary for identification of users (administrators) with registrars.

The reason for considering this issue was the lack of expediency in the procedure for collecting documents, but it sounds like this: “... These requirements go beyond the competencies of commercial organizations and create an unjustified burden on the activities of registrars. With the modern development of graphic editors (for example, Adobe Photoshop) and the absence of a mechanism for registrars to check the provided copies for authenticity, it is necessary to store hundreds of thousands of paper and electronic copies without significantly improving the quality of identification of domain administrators. ”

Of the 20 registrars who participated in the voting “FOR”, all participants voted to cancel the collection and storage of documents.

The proposed changes to the Rules for Registering Domain Names in .RU and Russia Domains are scheduled for consideration by the Coordination Center Council, which is scheduled to meet on November 29, 2010.

There are several possible solutions that can be made at the Council of the Coordination Center:
1) the abolition of the collection and storage of copies of documents administrators domains .RU and. RF;
2) transfer of the function of collecting documents to the Coordination Center;
3) leave unchanged.
