The “smarter” and more powerful mobile phones become, sometimes surpassing the characteristics of computers from the not-so-distant past, 2-4 years, several times, the more malicious software created exclusively for mobile devices appears. Previously, many installed antivirus software on their phones more for order than necessary - some did it simply to show friends the degree of “coolness” of their phone, which has a real antivirus. Now the situation has changed, and it may be that soon the number of phones with installed anti-virus software will exceed the corresponding figure in the PC world by a percentage. So, in China, more than a million smartphones (by approximate estimates) were infected with a dangerous virus.
The most interesting is that this virus was disguised as antivirus software, thus infecting thousands of mobile devices per day. Then the virus sent SMS to the contact list, offering to download itself via the attached link. According to experts, it costs Chinese users 300 thousand dollars a day. The fact is that in addition to spam sms on the contact list, the virus sends messages to paid short numbers. One can only imagine how much the attackers earn in this way.

But for quite some time now, experts were suggesting something similar, warning fans of powerful and functional devices - now you really have to install real antivirus software on smartphones to solve the problem. Of course, the Chinese problem is not the only one; similar cases have happened before, though not as large-scale. For example, in July, “wallpapers” for Android-based devices were found on the Web, which contained a virus that stole personal information, including a mobile phone number, IMEI, and voice mail number. Then the problem was quickly resolved, but now the Chinese are fighting with a fake antivirus, but so far unsuccessfully.
Worst of all, similar programs began to appear; in China, dozens of them were found. Real mobile software does not always cope with the problem - for many antiviruses such software is terra incognita.
Soon the expected manifestation of such software in other countries. How to protect yourself? Experts advise not to open the suspicious links that came in the messages, even if the SMS was sent by a well-known person. In addition, you can use prepaid packages where there are limits on the number of messages to be sent.
