In principle, now the search for the YouTube service works quite well - there are, of course, problems when the service cannot “understand” what the user wants to find, but this is rather a user's problem, not a service. But the developers want to improve what is now, and the new search, according to management, should attract more regular visitors, and this plan includes another task - to increase the time that the user spends on the site. Most likely, the new algorithm will take into account the fact that people visit YouTube for the purpose of having fun.
The new search, according to the developers, will be supplemented by new categories, including “Topics”. In this category it will be possible to find the most popular videos that correspond to the subject of the request. Many users, according to the same developers, cannot find something for the simple reason that users do not know what materials are on the service. In other words, in this situation, the statement “In order to get the right answer, it is necessary to ask the right question” is more relevant than ever.
The search algorithm on YouTube will be completely changed - and the results of such a change should manifest themselves in the first days and even hours. Results will be tracked by developers, who at first will correct the search algorithm “on the fly”. As a result, the new algorithm should meet the needs of users to the maximum, and find even what the user did not suspect. The developers will try to introduce a few surprises, which so far no one particularly applies.

Several new "buns" are already known - for example, automatically correcting an incorrectly worded request. For example, synonyms, incorrectly written words, multi-valued words will be taken into account. The search results will be offered various options corresponding to each of the request values (it sounds difficult, you will probably have to wait for the implementation of the algorithm to understand what the developers have in mind).
In principle, the idea is correct - indeed, if the user receives a correct answer every time even to a not really correctly asked question, then such a user will stay on the service longer, which is what the YouTube leadership needs. I remember that on some website I saw a complaint from a user who complained that “I was starting to look for information about notes on Wikipedia, and I came around two o'clock in the morning to read an article about some kind of ringed worms”. In general, if the new search on YouTube really will be as effective as promised, then indeed, the average user’s time on the site will increase significantly.
