James Bach - About "Reasonable Processes"

Those of us who are on duty in one way or another interact with the computer (there are a lot of such), probably dream of automating all the processes, reducing the amount of routine work.

But the reality, unfortunately, lives by its own laws, and very often the tools that could simplify our life, do not work as they should, and we again return to “manual labor”.

James Bach, a professional software tester, introduced the concept of a “reasonable process”.
')
“A sensible process,” writes Bach on his blog, “is a process that relies on qualified people.” He further argues that reasonable processes can be defined as processes that cannot be automated without undue simplification.

For example, you can teach a graphic editor to cut off the edges of an image (when preparing for printing), but you cannot explain to him in which cases it is necessary to cut more on one side and less on the other. Therefore, this process can not be called reasonable.
