It seems that not many people know, and I also found out recently that you can reprogram some buttons on the standard RC6 console from Microsoft: TV, VOL +, VOL-. Let's see how.

Buttons, alas, only 3: TV, VOL +, VOL -. However, they are quite enough to actually turn on / off the TV (or other device), as well as adjust the volume on the receiver with the remote control.
So, to record the action on the button, do the following:
- We have remote controls (RC6 and the one from which we write the command) infrared ports to each other at a short distance
- Clamp the DVD Menu and OK buttons on RC6 until the backlight goes out (about 2 seconds)
- Click on the button that we want to program, while the backlight blinks
- Press the button on the remote sources, the command with which we want to copy
If RC6 recorded a command, the backlight will flash 2 times. If the command could not be recognized, the backlight will flash 4 times. - Repeat steps 1-4 for the remaining buttons.
To reset all recorded buttons:
- Hold down the DVD Menu and Left until the lights go out.
- Click OK
The remote control should blink 2 times, confirming the return to factory settings. Alternatively, they say you can remove the batteries for a while - the effect should be the same.
Unfortunately, not all consoles are programmed this way.
