He has already been called the "holy grail" of computer technology. We are talking about software that will allow a person to communicate with the computer in "normal language", just as people communicate with each other.
Computer scientists all over the world have been struggling with an elusive goal for more than ten years, but so far to no avail. However, the other day Linguistic Agents, based in Jerusalem, announced that its specialists managed to create an application program that would allow computers to understand human speech. Needless to say, this will lead to a real revolution in the computer world.
Developed by the Israelis "Advanced linguistic machine" or ALM (Advanced Language Machine) - the brainchild of the founder and chief executive officer of Sesona Margaliyot. Margalie, 47, who studied linguistics at the University of California at Los Angeles and computer science at Hebrew University in Israel, spent several years developing programs for other companies before focusing on a mechanism that could accurately decode human speech.
According to him, the current computational linguistics aims to understand the bits of the meaning of individual words and what can be extracted from them, instead of trying to decipher the meanings in a phrase or sentence. In contrast, the proposed Nano-syntax (NanoSyntax) proposed by Americans is based on the fact that our communication is based on the phrase level. "

NanoSyntax, developed in 2004 by linguists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, decomposed the language into components, going beyond words to parse the meaning of whole sentences. This idea was the basis of the Israeli development.
Linguistic Agents has successfully adapted its software, known as the “Intelligent Command Engine”, for use in the bus system and the yellow pages directory, although the Israeli program has not yet reached the level of commercial use.
