Netscape Browser Creator Offers New Way To Surf The Web

Back in August last year, the news appeared on Habré that the creator of the Netscape browser, which was the most popular in the mid-90s, Mark Andriessen is financing the project of the company RockMelt, which should change the principles of modern surfing on the Web. And so, after a period of time a year and several months, the project was declared a “worker.” Actually, the development is a new type of browser, which is “sharpened” not only and not so much under surfing the Web, as for social communication. There have already been several developments of this kind, which have not become particularly popular, and now Andriessen promises that this project is a new word in working with the Internet.

Twitter, Facebook and Google services are integrated into the browser, in addition, RockMelt (the browser is named after the company that created it), allows you to track the appearance of new materials on selected sites. According to the developers, the new browser allows you to minimize the time that the user spends on switching from one page to another, from one service to another.

"This is a chance for us to create a fundamentally new browser again," says Andriessen. In his opinion, technologies evolve too quickly, and software, including browsers, simply do not have time for progress. But the browser RockMelt, in his opinion, is the most modern among all analogues. And the new browser even provides ways to add new developments, as new technologies become available.

The company RockMelt has received more than $ 10 million in investment from Andrisssen - for such a bag, in principle, you can really work on creating a new browser, these are not penny subsidies received by developers at the beginning of the journey. Interestingly, Andreyssen is now on the board of directors of Facebook, so that he was able to carry out the most complete integration of the social network and his browser. So, when you log in to Facebook, a panel with a drop-down list of friends is added to the top of the new browser, plus there is a line for entering updates for your account.

The service integration with Twitter is organized in the same way. The upper right part of the browser is dedicated to displaying a list of favorite sites, with automatic display of notifications about new information.

Each user's preferences are saved on a remote server, allowing you to transfer settings at any time if the user has started working on a new PC. Of course, here we are not talking about data synchronization with other browsers - only RockMelt.

The initial goal of the developers is quite modest - to attract a million users who would work with the new browser. You can get it on the company website.
