This year, Google has spent a significant amount of money on the purchase of large and not-so-big companies, which have now become part of the corporation, complementing and expanding the capabilities of the “center”. Guide Google recently announced the intention not to stop there, but on the contrary, to make several more large purchases. In fact, we are talking about buying companies that can be compared to YouTube in size (at the time of purchase, of course), or DoubleClick. These two companies are the largest purchases of the corporation in its history.
Guide Google declares that the company seeks to keep up with the times, and buys promising companies that after some time become large and very large. It is worth recalling that in 2010 the corporation spent about $ 1.6 billion to buy startups. The number of the latter was 20 different companies. The most successful acquisitions this year, according to Google management, are the mobile advertising agency AdMob and ITA Software, which produces software for tourism companies. These two purchases are “delayed” in the amount of 700 million dollars.

In the entire history of the company, these two companies are ranked third and fourth in value, so this year can be considered not only productive, but also quite costly. Usually, according to management, startups are chosen with the potential and the team that would like to continue working after the purchase of the company itself. After all, a change of employees of such a company can "kill" the whole perspective. If you remember, after the purchase of most companies, an inscription appears on the main page that says “our team has joined the entire Google team”. This is not just an inscription, but part of corporate policy.
True, not always everything turns out the way you want. For example, this year one by one, the heads of purchased start-ups left. We are talking about AdMob, Youtube, Where 2 Technologies (based on the technologies of this company, Google Maps was created). But these companies have already been “mastered”, so the departure of executives is unlikely to somehow affect the future work of Google.
It would be interesting to know which companies will become part of Google in the near future ...
