Well, it was worth the wait. The beta version of Skype 5.0 for Mac OS X has been released today, with a new interface that simplifies the use of the program and is more in line with Mac standards. Skype client is now all assembled in one window and connects to the system address book so that you can call, exchange messages and send SMS to your contacts, regardless of whether they are online or not.
Skype for Mac now also supports a new feature — group video calls that allow you to hold video conferences with several participants (provided that they all use the latest version of Skype for Windows or beta version for Mac).
In addition, the new Skype for Mac has the following new features and capabilities:
New control panel with call control buttons located on top of other windows
Quick search through chat history and convenient viewing of past messages
Offline chat messaging
Personalization of contacts
Quick connection back to dropped calls
A floating contact monitor panel that helps you see online friends and groups.
Of the familiar features of the latest version for Windows, the new beta for Mac lacks, first of all, integration with Facebook and dynamic presentation of contacts during conferences. ')
