RE: The new phone from HTC includes a chip that protects the firmware from modification

Remember, then, on October 7, serious debates broke out over the installation of a chip in the new HTC Desire HD and Desire Z (T-Mobile G2) phones that protect the firmware from modifications?

A little more than a month passed since the release of the G2 phone in America and today the guys with Modaco will release a new version of Titanium Backup with the ability to remove programs from previously unwritable memory (naturally, firmware with a signed certificate could be written there).

I myself am the owner of G2 in Russia, I will tell you how it looked.

Officially, the phone is free only 1.7 GB of memory, in fact 4. This memory contains 2 "snapshots" of the operating system - one active - which is loaded when turned on. The second backup is a clean OS with all the bloatware. And finally it appeared possible to delete these same bloatware programs that will not help me in Russia.

So that's it - well done, all who believed, and who did not believe - well done, too, for the developers were probably pleased to break you :)
