DARPA and NASA plan to begin work on the 100-Year Starship spaceship

DARPA and NASA have teamed up to take the first step in a new era of space exploration - manned interstellar flights.

The 100-Year Starship project will develop the necessary business models and technologies for manned interstellar flights. One of the goals of the project is to stimulate the creation of new breakthrough technologies, as well as to inspire entrepreneurs, engineers, scientists and young people.

DARPA has a particular interest in building power plants, energy storage, life support, computers, structures, navigation, etc. - everything that can be used for military purposes.
