Microsoft buys Canesta - a gesture and 3D chip maker

Microsoft plans to buy the company Canesta writes the New York Times . Canesta is a small Silicon Valley company that specializes in creating microprocessors for processing gestures and defining 3D using video capture.

In addition to technology, Microsoft may be interested in Canesta's large patent pool. Microsoft Xbox Kinect controller, which works with similar technologies, will soon appear on the market. In addition, the future control in Windows can be connected with touchless gestures and Canesta is already working on such technologies.
