Mail Delivery System: spam avalanche

I really want to believe that I am not the only one. Otherwise, it will be very offensive.

The fact is that since January 1, my mailboxes on gmail are simply broken by spam. Well, it would seem, whom in our day will surprise with this? But the trouble is that this spam falls into the Inbox folder and not into the Spam folder, as usual. And everything, absolutely all of the three hundred messages in these five days imitate the response of the postal server about the alleged error and the inability to deliver the message. And, of course, there is supposedly an original message in the body of the e-mail from the server, in which lies the advertising text or picture.

Well, and some links, pictures and text, I did not go.

Actually, there are a lot of questions in this regard.
Why on January 1? I don’t know how long I didn’t receive any spam on the Inbox, and I didn’t even look into the Spam folder, so I can say with confidence that the outrage began on January 1.
Why can't gmail filter these emails like it did with all spam before?
Is there any way to deal with this scourge until gmail regains its functionality?

But please do not say that I am the only one - it will be quite disappointing: (
