Yahoo’s shareholders did not agree to change the policy of the company, which was to oppose Internet censorship.
The proposal to create a committee on human rights, which would revise the company's policy throughout the world, including in China, was
declined .
At the annual meeting of shareholders, the proposal to revise the company's policy was supported by 14% of those present, and the creation of a human rights committee was only 4%.

Human rights groups have criticized Yahoo since 2005, when the company provided emails to some political dissidents. Thus, the materials obtained were
used in a court against the Chinese journalist Shi Tao and served as proof of his guilt.
But Yahoo declares that the company is obliged to reckon with local laws, where it works.
