Site confiscation (continuation of the story with the Khakass court)

Today I came across an interesting case that happened in Russia. Although the story itself took place at the end of last year, however, I only learned it now, despite the fact that I try to regularly read all the news. Therefore, those who have already heard about Mikhail Afanasyev and his website “New Focus” can not read further.

What happened: one citizen had his own little ordinary website, but since he posted materials criticizing the authorities there, they decided to “punish” him.

At the beginning of December last year, the magistrate Marina Khokhlova issued a decision on administrative offense with requirements to confiscate the site and pay the site owner a 20 thousand rubles fine.

The reason for the confiscation of the site was his lack of registration as a media.

For people at least a little versed in IT, the whole absurdity of this decision is understandable. In this situation, the desire of another judge (already when considering the appeal of this decision) is happy to sort out the situation and find out what practically needs to be confiscated.

About why the site is not the media can be read in the legal opinion of Professor, Doctor of Law, Honored Lawyer of the Russian Federation, Fedotov MA

PS Nowhere can I find what ended this story. Who knows, please tell us in the comments.
