In Mozilla Corporation new CEO

The Mozilla blog has announced that Gary Kovac has been appointed as the new CEO of the Mozilla Corporation.

He will replace John Lilly, who in May announced his retirement to venture capital firm Greylock Partners.

Kovacs will take office on November 8th.

It is expected that Mozilla Corporation will continue to work on the browser, but will pay attention to other areas, such as social networks and mobile devices.

The first task, which Kovacs plans to do in the new position, will be the release of the final version of Firefox 4.0, scheduled for this year.

Prior to that, Gary Kovacs at various times held such leadership positions as Senior Vice President at Sybase, Vice President of Adobe Mobile and Vice President of Product Marketing at Macromedia.

Previously, he led the successful creation and growth of Zi Corporation - a company specializing in embedded software.

Prior to Zi Corporation, Gary spent 10 years at IBM, holding senior positions in product management, sales and marketing.

Kovacs graduated from Calgary University in Canada, receiving a bachelor's degree in commerce and an MDA with honors.
