Since October 2003, every
second Tuesday of the month, Microsoft collects a package of patches that were released over the last month. This is done for the convenience of corporate users who do not want to install automatic updates daily.
The
patch pack for the next Tuesday of October 12 will be fixes for 49 vulnerabilities, which are described in 16 security bulletins (4 "critical", 10 "important" and 2 "medium"). These are holes in Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2003 and 2008, Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 3, Office 2003 Service Pack 3, Office 2007 Service Pack 2, Office 2010, Office 2004 for Mac and 2008 for Mac, Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, SharePoint Server 2007, Groove Server 2010, and Office Web Apps.
49 holes - a new record of Microsoft. The previous "achievement" was set in August (
34 ).
