Today she was awarded two scientists (Andrei Geim and Konstantin Novoselov) from Russia for discovering graphene. In general, a collaboration of scientists from different countries is working on graphene, but these two have received the prize. After just a few years after the discovery of graphene (this is very little), there were areas for its use in real life: On the basis of graphene - films 1 atom thick, new touchscreens will be developed. If you are interested to find out what graphene is in more detail and from the first hand I recommend a video lecture by Mikhail Katznelson, a scientist from the Netherlands, who works in the same collaboration.
