Quite unexpectedly for many (including me) a new (and first) RIM tablet under the playful name Playbook was announced today.
Over the promotional video is visible multitasking in the style of webOS.
The main characteristics of the device: ')
7 ", 1024 x 600 with multi-touch support
BlackBerry Tablet OS with QNX-based SMP support
1GHz dual core processor
1 GB of RAM
2 cameras (3 megapixels from the front and 5 megapixels from the rear; support for HD video recording
Weight: 400 g
The first models will come out with BLuetooth and Wi-Fi, then tablets with 3G and 4G connectivity will appear
RIM continues the trend set by Palm and Microsoft to use web technologies to develop applications on devices. This time, Adobe Flash became the main development technology, and Flash Builder 4 was the main IDE. It is also possible to create HTML / Javascript-based applications.
The exact price is not yet known, it is said that the device will fall "into the lower price segment among competitors." In October, the Playbook will be available to some developers and corporate users, and will be available for sale in early 2011.
