This summer I decided to upgrade my old Acer Aspire 5720G. I just wanted something that will please the eye and warm the soul with its power ...
I chose a long, meticulously. I discarded Asus M60J, Acer 8942, some Hewlett-Packard, Packard Bell and decided to remain an adherent of Acer, especially since I had no complaints about my fighter.

I'll say right away - the price is exorbitant for the concept of "laptop." But I took myself a desktop (so it is fashionable to call nowadays great laptops - a replacement for a desktop computer). It cost me 63 thousand. Acer ASPIRE 8943G-728G1.28TWi (Core i7 720QM 1600 Mhz / 18.4 "/ 1920x1080 / 8192Mb / 1280Gb / Blu-Ray / Wi-Fi / Bluetooth / Win 7 HP)
- Yandex.Market price trends
Let us turn to the appearance of the laptop. Beautiful, strict. Something similar to Macbooks in unibody, on older sony. Simply - inspires.
Build - beautiful. Nothing squeaks, no gaps. For that kind of money! ;))
With the lid closed, the laptop looks like an aluminum bar. How not to use a table - bevel to the end.
On the shelves
Immediately we see a glossy screen and a reflection of everything in it. The glossy notebook has not only a screen, but also a touchpad. Fortunately, the rest is matte.
The cover is not just matte, it is aluminum! The body inside (gray areas) - too! The keyboard is plastic.
Immediately tell you about the keyboard. The buttons are very comfortable, the keyboard is full, with a digital block, the arrow keys are half the size of normal, but on laptops it is almost commonplace. The Caps Lock and Num Lock keys have activity lights.
The touchpad has multitouch. There is a central button that turns on the multimedia mode - right on the touchpad appear touch buttons to control the player and launch Acer Movie and Acer Music. I met this decision at the Toshiba Satellite.
In addition, the fingerprint sensor has a function (in addition to standard unlocking without entering a password) - scrolling. Swipe your finger over it and it works like a mini touchpad.
It's nice to sit behind a laptop. The lid opens at a sufficient angle to sit with him on my lap (I would look at someone who is almost 5 kilos ready to keep on his lap).
The power supply, by the way, to pull such power, is also not small. Compare ... with two conventional power supplies;)
If anyone is interested in the numbers from the tests, then here they are (on the default settings):
As such tests do not particularly interest me, however, in games the laptop showed very good performance. Assassin's Creed II flies, Prototype, Crysis - easy! Laptop, do not forget.
About the screen say nothing special. Uniform LED backlight. Resolution FullHD (1080). I got used to it for a long time. Everything is too small. Especially websites. But scaling saved me.
The wide screen allows you to watch movies with pleasure. And the sound, by the way, is 5.1 (that is, there are actually 5 speakers! And one subwoofer speaker) !!!
Ergonomic everything is in order.
On the left side are:
- Grid blowing air (not blowing in the hand),
- D-Sub (atavism used for projectors),
- HDMI (for some reason, there is a display port in the 8942, but not in the newer model),
- e-SATA (combined with USB)
- USB-port (2.0, unfortunately)
- 4pin firewire
- 3 audio jacks.
At the end:
- Wireless control button (when pressed, the widget is launched, in which you can control the state of wi-fi, bluetooth)
- Start button Acer Backup (generally useless)
- HDD and power indicators
- Volume control wheel (without limiters)
- Multiformat card reader
- Infrared (for remote)
On the right are:
- three USB 2.0 ports
- BD-RE recorder
- RJ45 connector
- power adapter connector
There is nothing at all on the back side. and thank God!
To the question of ergonomics: usb ports allow you to plug in flash drives nearby, and the power cord is made with an L-shaped plug. This means that the drive will open easily and will not interfere.
Despite its impressive size, the laptop is perfectly placed on the table and it is VERY comfortable to work with it. I almost never use the touchpad. Connect the mouse.
Noise laptop under load is enough. System noise rustle exactly the same. Laptops should be quieter. For myself, I consider this laptop a regular PC - so the noise is acceptable.
The size of the control panel was somewhat surprising - comparable with the gigantism of the apparatus itself:
I did not use it. I see no reason to connect such a colossus to the TV and use it as a video player or media player.
As a prefix - the meaning is.
In general and in general - every day I enjoy my “toy”. Now and office tasks and games in one place. Houses.
In summary, I want to list its advantages and disadvantages.
+ Huge screen with protective plastic
+ Great keyboard
+ Body materials (aluminum and good plastic)
+ Matt everywhere except display and touchpad
+ Remote (albeit so huge)
+ 5 USB (including e-SATA-USB)
+ sound 5.1
+ 2 winchester
+ Copes well with games
+ FullHD display
- Weak battery (although, 2 hours for such a friend - solid!)
- Heats up. Under load, the heat from the ventilation is noticeable.
- Ventilation is quickly clogged (2 months and a layer of 2 millimeters)
- The gloss on the touchpad (on the screen with this somehow came to terms)
- A huge power supply, which is also heated.
- Not very good viewing angles of the display (TN matrix after all)
- No USB 3.0
- The price of some seem exorbitant.
In general, I am satisfied with the purchase. If you have questions - ask. I will try to answer.
