The New York Post, citing informed sources, reports that Novell Inc. reached an agreement to sell themselves in two parts, and it took three to four weeks from the date of the transaction. One of the buyers bought the business associated with the development and maintenance of the distribution kit SLES. Sources do not provide information about customers, Novell representatives refuse to comment.
It is worth recalling that not so long ago, Novell tried to buy Elliott Associates. In addition, the court finally confirmed Novell's rights to UNIX patents in a lawsuit against SCO. If the rumors are confirmed, it remains only to hope that the buyer will not apply these patents against the FOSS-community.
