Samsung Galaxy TAB, Toshiba Folio 100 and Android 2.2 Player

IFA, day is zero! The list of press events on the zero day of the exhibition took up four pages. I really wanted to burst to be everywhere, but I had to choose. Samsung, Sharp, Philips and Toshiba were on the shortlist, the remaining 19 events had to be sacrificed. Sorry!

What is the general day "zero"? This is the day when brands drive journalists to special places, and loudly and pathos talk about their visions, concepts and development vectors. Little is usually said about specific products - the presentations are dotted with graphs and figures, and they are needed to make journalists aware of global accents and draw far-reaching conclusions. But since I am at the fifth time at IFA, I took off my rose-colored glasses beforehand and became filled with cynicism.

The morning began with the presentation of Samsung, in which the main product was, of course, the first tablet of Koreans Galaxy Tab. I didn’t see a big sell-out in the first two days - there were a lot of journalists. The company’s speakers tried for a long time to play Steve Jobs, each in different ways, but they lacked something - apparently, a black turtleneck (unless, of course, this is no longer a copyright). Be that as it may, the “pill” turned out to be very pleasant in appearance and decently stuffed with technologies. Frustrated only news from Russia - it will cost 30 thousand rubles in retail, more expensive than the iPad in the United States. Well, I don’t know ...

After Samsung, the Japanese from Sharp performed, but somehow they were poorly prepared for the exhibition. I did not find anything interesting either in the presentation or on the stand, not counting football symbols, an even layer spread over all the products. Sharp has now become UEFA's global partner, and this is the main event, because the blah blah blah (long drawy yawn).

Philips was expected to be pleased with the highest organization of the event and the pretty girls at the stands; there was something to see among the products too. True, Aleksey Vedernikov didn’t like the 3D TVs, but the Connect mini player, the one on Android. Pozzalas - nothing like that, it's a pity that the screen is resistive ...

The day, as it began with the "pill", and so it ended - Toshiba distinguished itself, which rethought Apple's ideas, and in its own way connected the gadgets with Internet services. As it turned out at the presentation, the only link that was missing in the coherent concept of the company was a tablet computer and - voila, here it is - the most powerful tablet on the market! Folio 100 based on Nvidia Tegra 2 and, of course, running on Android 2.2 with native flash support. However, from a distance it seemed more interesting than near, and I look forward to the announcement of the price with a shudder - if Samsung's 7-inch tablet costs a bucks, what to expect from a Japanese 10-inch tablet?

Video from the minus of the first day of the exhibition, I already laid out on Habr, you can watch it here .
