Rules of conduct in an emergency or an unusual situation
Stumbled upon the rule of Fly-Navigate-Communicate from Airbus Golden Rules. The rules themselves found at In the end, I came across rules of behavior in a nonstandard / emergency situation. Because Aircraft management and project management are quite similar - I decided to make a transfer.
Golden rules for non-standard and emergency situations
Identify the most important factor in a situation before acting The wrong decision is often the result of a wrong recognition and identification of the main threat.
Determine the risks and time limits. Take time to gain time:
Postpone action when possible; and / or
Cancel the entire project or change the project boundary.
Review and evaluate all possible options It is necessary to review and evaluate all possible options before making a decision.
Actions must be appropriate to the situation. In an emergency, you must act without delay (this does not mean that you must act headlong), while in an unusual situation, you can postpone the action.
Manage team member loading Stick to the selected task distribution for a non-standard / emergency situation to reduce the load and optimize team resources. Use the simplified scheme of work whenever possible.
Create a common situation model with other team members. Agree with team members to create a common understanding of:
What matters most now;
What is planned to do.
Creating an overall picture of the situation allows team members to work on a common plan, moving towards a common and well-understood goal.
Follow the recommended procedures and other agreed actions. Understand the causes and effects of each action before the action itself, and check the result of the previous action before the next. Be wary of irreversible actions.
