Chrome’s built-in spell checker is very useful. But, being useful, sometimes I still want to turn off this intrusive function when the browser starts to emphasize words that it does not find in its standard dictionaries. In the "Advanced" tab, scroll down a bit to the "Font and language settings" item.

In the "Font and language settings" window, go to the "Languages" tab. And there remove the checkmark from "Spell Checker".

Here is such an unobvious procedure to disable the spell checker in the Chrome browser. Let's hope that in Chrome OS everything will be somewhat simpler.
Notice also that Chrome allows you to do spell checking for other languages, depending on your location.
