The creators of Ubuntu will run the counter installed operating systems
Canonical has announced the release of a program that will count the number of Ubuntu installations. The counting application is called canonical-census . The developers promise that they will only collect information about the successful installation of the operating system, the version of Ubuntu and the name of the computer. True, ordinary users can still live in peace, as such information collection will affect only the pre-installed OS by computer manufacturers (the so-called OEM installation). The application is already available on www.launchpad.net and in the standard Ubuntu 10.04 repository.
