Hewlett-Packard today surprised the public with a
message : the executive director, part-time chairman of the board and president of the company, Mark Hurd, is leaving his post after accusations of sexual harassment. Such accusations were filed against a 53-year-old Hurd by one of the former contractors of the company. Her name is kept secret, but the woman
is represented by attorney Gloria Allred from Allred, Maroko & Goldberg. The investigation was conducted by independent lawyers under the supervision of the HP Board of Directors.
The investigation revealed that Hurd did not violate HP’s sexual harassment policy, but violated the HP Standards of Business Conduct. The head of the company decided to immediately leave all his posts.
As it should be, the announcement of this was published at night from Friday to Saturday, in order to minimize discussion in the press.
