In the CIS, earned the first commercial network LTE

We somehow got used to the fact that all sorts of technological innovations first appear in Moscow, and then in other cities and CIS countries. So usually everything was when it came to high-speed Internet, wireless and so on. But this time, the situation is somewhat different: MTS decided to launch a fourth-generation LTE network in commercial operation in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. The promised connection speed to such a network is about 100 megabits per second, the LTE frequency range is 2.5-2.7 GHz.

Interestingly, Huawei provided the hardware for the rapid deployment of the LTE network in Tashkent. Unfortunately for many residents of Tashkent, the network now works only in the center of the capital of Uzbekistan, but soon, according to the MTS management, coverage will be significantly expanded, capturing almost the entire city.

Currently, there are active conversations that LTE is about to appear in Russia. The President of the Russian Federation was even asked to assist in the allocation of the above frequency range to create a federal network of broadband access to the Network. The Osnova Telecom company is doing this now, which, however, has not yet given an official statement to the Ministry of Communications and Mass Media.

The problem with deploying LTE networks in Russia is that the required range is occupied by the Ministry of Defense, an organization that is not particularly famous for its flexibility. Now it seems that the range is indeed being released for civilian use, and representatives of the “big three” have already expressed their interest in obtaining a work permit in this range, plus some other organizations.

Interestingly, in Europe, the first LTE-network of commercial operation was launched in 2009, in December. The network was deployed by TeliaSonera in Stockholm and Oslo. The speed of this network is similar to the Tashkent. In the same year, promises to launch LTE-network and one of the largest US mobile operator Verizon. It is possible that Yota will deploy its own LTE network in five cities of Russia by the end of the year. According to the management, the frequencies belonging to the brand will be exploited to deploy the LTE network.

Well, for now, let's rejoice at our comrades in sunny Tashkent - let's hope that soon all this will appear with us.
